Strengthening the professional capacities of Mali's internal security inspectors

The Inspectorate of Security and Civil Protection Services, in partnership with the Geneva Center for Security Governance (DCAF), is organizing, from July 3 to 5, 2024 at the Résident Hotel in Kangaba, in the form of a retreat, a training workshop for Inspectors of the internal security forces of Mali on monitoring the management of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The opening ceremony of the said workshop was chaired by the Chief Inspector of Security and Civil Protection Services, the General Commissioner of the Police Brigade Moussa Boubacar MARIKO, with at his side, Messrs. Abou Dao and Mambi KEITA, respectively Prefect of Circle and Mayor of the commune of Kangaba.

This workshop, which brings together 24 Inspectors from the ISSPC and sectoral Inspectorates of the Police, the Gendarmerie, Civil Protection and the National Guard, aims to strengthen the professional capacities of the said Inspectors on notions of gender for better management of Violence Gender-based for integration into internal control mechanisms within security services

and civil protection; a major objective in line with the policy of modernization and professionalization of the Defense and Security Forces, so advocated by the highest authorities of the transition. 

In the same vein, it will also make it possible to raise Inspectors' awareness of the gender action plans of the National Police and Gendarmerie, and to develop some gender indicators to be integrated into control missions.

For their part, the Prefect and the Mayor of Kangaba were delighted with the choice made on their locality to host this event which is of capital importance insofar as it will further promote the image of Kangaba beyond the borders of the country. The workshop will end on Friday July 5, 2024 with strong recommendations relating to internal control mechanisms within security and civil protection services.

On the sidelines of this workshop, the Chief Inspector of Security and Civil Protection Services visited the security services of the Police, the Gendarmerie and the National Guard, to provide them with the support of the highest authorities of the transition and above all urge them to have much more cohesion within them so that they can carry out their missions of securing people and their property.
